NEW PODCASTS COMING IN 2023
Merle Griff, PhD, is a licensed psychologist and gerontologist who founded SarahCare Adult Day Centers in 1985. At that time she was unable to find the type of care she wanted for the families she worked with professionally. Dr. Merle has had her own experiences as caregiver to both her mother as well as her husband before their passing. She knows firsthand the struggles, stress, and problems facing those who are the primary caregiver for a loved one.
It was Dr. Merle's vision to provide care for seniors in a warm, safe, and friendly environment during the day and have them back in their homes with their families by dinner time. Caregivers would know that their loved one was being well cared for and could continue to work and care for their own families, with SarahCare providing a much needed break.
Dr. Merle continues to be an advocate for seniors, serving on numerous national boards and task forces, and as a three-time delegate to the White House Conference on Aging. She is also involved in new projects for America's Veterans who need transitional support, housing, education, and whole-health care.
A wife, mother, and caregiver to her own mother, Merle Griff understood all too well when her patients expressed the stress, anxiety, frustration, and just plain exhaustion associated with caring for everyone in their lives but themselves.
As a psychologist, Dr. Merle felt a calling to share with others her experience and advice on dealing with the issues that affect caregivers. She interviews guests who suggest ways to deal with finances, addiction, mental health, work/life balance, the importance of self-care and maintaining your own health, as well as relationships with spouses, parents, children, friends, co-workers, and everyone else who wants a piece of you.
Previously live hour-long radio shows, the new Caught Between Generations is a shorter, 20 minute podcast available on demand. Dr. Merle and her guests get straight to the heart of each show's topic, and episodes are timed so you can listen to them in their entirety on your drive to or from work, or as you sit back and take a few minutes to relax and recharge.
At the end of each episode, Dr. Merle gives you her takeaways - the things to remember and focus on - to help you through your journey.
Your favorite expert on caregiving, Dr. Merle, is back again! Listen to her new on-demand podcasts in a new shorter format, just perfect caregivers with little down time.
We are all caregivers in one way or another. At the very least, we should be practicing self-care. Our guests help provide ways in which we can learn and grow, reduce stress, or maybe just find a way to have a good laugh - or cry!
